Maybe the real purpose of becoming a portraitist was to stop time. To find
a straw in the oil slick and cling to it, desperately holding my camera
over my head.
I style myself a family history stalker, bravely following people as they change, desperately blinding myself to the phenomenon of the dentist aging relentlessly as I examine his face twice annually. Between "Amy at Six Weeks" and this portrait was -- only a moment. |
